I’ve been talking frequently lately about the gifts of the Spirit. These are giftings and abilities given to us by God to be used for His glory and to build up the people around us. As Paul says in Romans 12, “For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them” (vv4-6). And again in 1 Corinthians 12, “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed… there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good” (vv1, 4-7).
