There’s a verse in the Bible I find very illuminating:
“You are worthy our Lord and our God… because you have created all things, and by your pleasure they exist and were created.” (Rev. 4:11 ABPE)

God made the earth for His pleasure. When He had finished creating the earth, He “saw all that he had made, and it was very good” (Genesis 1:31 NIV).

So when we enjoy His creation, we are actually joining in the pleasure of God over what He has made.

We’re also like children enjoying a creation (say, a play structure) made for us by a loving parent – honestly, the parent gets as much or more joy out of watching their child enjoy their work than they had in making the play structure in the first place.

So the take-away is this: God enjoys us enjoying His creation. In fact, it’s a way for us and God to have pleasure, together.
