A bit ago, a friend e-mailed me asking if I’d test a sewing pattern she was preparing to sell via her website. I gladly agreed, not just because she’s my friend, but because I love a sewing challenge and this project – a water bottle carrier – sounded like it would be quite useful.
Well, the pattern is now up and ready for purchase, so I thought maybe some of my more sewing-minded blog followers would enjoy making their own water bottle carriers! The carries are perfect for toting water bottles (or any other kind of bottle) around, especially for picnics, concerts, or days out-and-about.
The pattern is probably about an intermediate level, but the creator has very clear instructions with pictures, so I found it easy to make from some heavy material I’d acquired a while back. (I probably should have used a bit heavier fabric, as my bag is a little floppy, but I had it on-hand, and it turned out ok anyway!)
Overall, it probably took me about a day to complete from start to finish, but part of that was I stitched a few wrong seams when I wasn’t paying enough attention to the instructions, and I did it over several days in short spurts.
I also made my own handles rather than purchasing webbing, but the webbing would look more professional. If you like the fabric straps, she has a tutorial for sewing the, here.
Overall, I’d say that the water bottle tote bag was a great success! I love the ability to take water bottles with us in a contained space…and the ease of finding my own bottle when I need a drink!
Peruse her website, or purchase the pattern here!
